Partygate investigations are pure nastiness

In the same way that the continued investigations into Donald Trump are pure political spite, so too are the investigations into Boris Johnson and Partygate.

David Pannick has pointed out that the current investigation into whether Boris Johnson misled parliament should hinge on whether he knew that what he said was untrue, not on whether he inadvertently did so with no knowledge of the events taking place.

The Privileges Committee is chaired by Harriet Harman, a long term Labour MP and supporter who was once the General Secretary of the National Council for Civil Liberties, now called Liberty. She also served as their Legal Officer.

The National Council for Civil Librties was associated withe the Paedophine Information Exchange, something for which Ms. Harman has apologised and says that she now regrets.

A large number of the members of the Committee seem to be political opponents or people who have criticised Mr. Johnson, who, if he is found to have misled Parliament either deliberately or inadvertently, could face an election in his constituency.

One has to wonder if the real aim of the investigation, just like the investigations into Donald Trump, is to remove the man who the public would vote for and who represents an insurmountable hurdle for opposition parties to beat should he be leader of the Conservatives at the next general election.

One thing is sure. This is pure nastiness, not political discussion of the pros and cons of different policies.

The aim is to survive, not pander to Jeremy Hunt and his Green craziness

Jeremy Hunt says that we all need to cut energy use this winter in order to defeat Vladimir Putin.

Well I have news for Mr. Hunt. The enegy defecit has nothing to do with Mr. Putin and everything to do with successive governments grovelling to the Greens and squandering our tax money on subsidies to renewable energy producers who can not compete in the real market.

Add to that the nightmare system of forcing everyone to pay for carbon credits. carnon emissions trading and VAT on energy bills and high fuel duties across the board and it is clear that the consumer and small business proprietor is being fleeced at every sopportunity.

Why does Mr. Hunt claim that the fault behind power shortages lies with Mr. Putin? To hide the disaster that has been created by replacing reliable coal and gas power stations with intermittent renewables that simply fail to supply demand.

At one time we took the gas out of coal, sold the remaining coke to smelting industries and consumers since it was smokeless and the gas was stored in gasometers in every town and city to supply the winter needs of the people. Then we changed to North Sea natural gas and started to rely on imports.

The result is shortages of the type that, to coin a phrase, are going to kill Granny as she freezes in her cold house, either because the power is off or because she simply can’t afford to heat it.

Unblock those fireplaces if you still have them and start collecting wood or anything else that will burn. The aim is to survive, not pander to Jeremy Hunt and his Green craziness.

Investigation of Donald Trump is pure political spite

November 19, 2022 1 comment

It was inevitable that as soon as Donald Trump declared his intention to run for President the Democrats would ensure that he faced a criminal investigation and, if possible, charges.

This has nothing to do with fair play or a real investigation and, despite the claims by Attorney General Merrick Garland that the appointment of a special prosecutor would remove political bias, it is very clear that a declaration within days of Mr. Trump announcing he would run is pure political spite and that the intention is to make it a difficult as possile for him to win.

Hiding behind an aggressive careeer prosecutor like Jack Smith will not prevent people from realising that this is a political prosecution. Most Americans believe in fair play so let us hope that they will see through this disgrace for what it is and vote in Mr. Trump to clear out the bias in the political institutions.

Migrants will never give up trying to get to the UK

23 year old Nesamouline has said that he wil never give up trying to get to the UK. He says that he does not think about the dangers of crossing the Channel, only his goal. He claims that he wants to be reunited with his Uncle in London.

It is difficult to know what the real driving force of his ambition to get to the UK may be.

If it is his love for his Uncle then one has to wonder why his Uncle does not reciprocate that love by moving to France (or any other EU country) since with Nesamouline in an EU country his relatives have a right to move to be with him.

Perhaps his Uncle’s reluctance to move, despite the fact that the EU is a safe country and we are repeatedly told that we were utterly mistaken to leave it, does not take into account Nesamoudine’s safety or the risks he faces in trying to cross the Channel? Could his uncle prefer the benefits of living in the UK despite the lure of the EU? Could he prefer living in the UK to ensuring his nephew’s safety? It seems that no-one has asked him.

One thing is certain. The continued rejection of living in the EU by many tens of thousands of economic migrants shows that the UK was right in rejecting EU membership and voting to leave. Now we have to deal with the fact that our independence and superior way of life is acting as a magnet for the rest of the world because they cannot all come here.

The first thing that might help is to only give temporary residence rights to successful asylum seekers, with those rights ending when their home countries are deemed to be safe for their return.

Secondly we need to stop pussyfooting around France. If their country is so unappealing that people are queuing to leave by any means possible then we need to make it clear that we will load those who get here illlegally onto boats and dump them back on the French beaches. No more mollycoddling those who break the law to get here. If France doesn’t like it then let them put up the drawbridge and we will trade elsewhere.

Thirdly every migrant should be given a bill for the full cost of dealing with them. Never mind giving them benefits. There is graffitti to be cleaned. Streets to be cleaned. Hospitals desperate for people to do unskilled work. Fruit and vegetables to pick. All at minimum wage with reductions to pay towards the costs of rescuing and processing them.

Perhaps then leaving the joys of France will not appear to be such a good choice.

What happened to the abortive Red Wave?

According to all of the forecasts the Republicans should have romped home to win the US mid terms, so what happened?

The most likely answer is that the Supreme Court judgement returning the right to decide on abortion rights to the individual states, where it belogs, has driven a shift towards the Democrats in national voting instead of that shift taking place within the states themselves.

Rapid immigration increasing the number of voters who did not fully understand the constitution along with a growing number of left wing voters and others who simply did not realise that the Supreme court ruling was not the end of the right to an abortion but the reinstating of the rights of individual states to decide for themselves has led to an increase in the Democratic vote nationally.

This was not a vote on Donald Trump. Nor was it a vote on how well (or badly) Joe Biden and his Democrats have done. By the time of the next Presidential election it is likely that the abortion issue will be fuly relegated back to a state decision. That is when the Trump driven Red Wave will be seen.

Never mind reparations, pay up for the benefits of all of our hard work and suffering that you have claimed as of right

There is a demand at COP 27 that developed nations should pay reparations to less developed nations on the grounds that their earlier development contributed more to global warming.

Ignoring the fact that there is no actual proof that anything done by humans has contributed to changes in the climate, the developing nations have been leeching off the largesse of the developed nations for years. Aid budgets have burgeoned. Technology has been used to solve their problems, be they disaster, disease or lack of food. Their people clutch mobile phones and know how to use them.

Meanwhile people in the developed nations are struggling as their politicians force green polices down their throats, pushing up the prices of food and fuel to impossible levels. These are the descendants of the people who slaved in mines and factories in atrocious conditions to produce the basic tools of civilisation that were used to drive the technological revolutions that gave us a brief glimpse of a comfortable future. A future that the promoters of the Green revolution have destroyed.

If the deeloping nations feel so hard done by then perhaps they should give up on all of those technologies that our evil struggle to improve the lot of humanity produced. Give up on modern medicines develvoped by the terrible technololgies that they so despise. Pass on the food that the agrarian revolutions enable us to grow and feed most of the world. At least that part of it that isn’t trying to kill its neighbours off.

The real problem is that everyone seems to have developed a culture of entitlement and are not prepared to buckle down and actually work to improve their lot.
