Advice to politicians – Steal the shops your policies destroyed

Having destroyed high streets around the country our intrepid politicians, who are gearing up for action in the countdown to the election,  are being advised to try to revitalise the desolated slum areas their policies have created.

Will they reverse the policies that have contributed to the destruction?  Cut the horrendous business rates  that are payable even on empty buildings?  Remove the parking bans and restrictions that, coupled with expensive council parking and high fines, have driven people out of town centres?  Cut the PC  nonsense driving stores out of business?  Remove the health and safety requirements that put the cost of doing business up?  All of these would help to make business start up feasible and affordable.  All of them would help existing businesses to keep going.

No.  None of these.

What will they do?

Why steal the shops of those they have destroyed by using compulsory purchase orders.  Start spending money, lots of money, our money, not theirs, on new schemes for infrastructure projects.

Of course, their main aim, only hinted at in the BBC article, is to convert every building they can lay their hands on into accommodation for the influx of immigrants that no-one seems capable of stopping.
