Licences should be banned, not unlicensed drivers

The case of the man in his 80s who had been driving without a licence or insurance for over 70 years just goes to show the uselessness of driving tests and licences in terms of public safety.

The measure of someone’s ability to drive is not their ability to pass a test. Time to allow anyone of 13 and over to learn to drive with any other driver. On their own after 12 months.

If their parents hare happy for them to drive the family car then fine. It is licences that should be banned, not unlicenced drivers.

Rewarding social workers for failure

Nadhim Zahawiis setting up an independent trust to run children’s social care in Bradford.

Is he bringing in new blood? Penalising those who have failed so spectacularly that a child died?

No, of course not. Existing social workers will be transferred to the new trust, presumably taking their mistakes and lackadaisical attitudes with them.

The mother and grandmother of the child who died have been given substantial jail sentences while the social workers still have their jobs, are not being retrained and have not been prosecuted.

There is something seriously wrong with a system that gives draconian powers to such people with no proper oversight or control s in place.

Presumably the next atrocity will not be long in coming.

ASA decisions get more Assinine by the day

The Adertising Standards Authority (ASA) have banned an advert for showing a child eating while hanging upside down. Do they know anything about children? Apparently not, and they seem to know equally little about the dangers of choking since they have ignored the supplied medical advice advising a head down position during a choking incident.

Still, nothing like turning the advertising field into a barren and humourless wasteland. No wonder channels showing banned adverts are so popular. Luckily the ASA hasn’t yet gained control over the entirety of the internet.

The defence of preventing criminality only works for the favoured few

Debbie Hicks has been found guily of filming in an empty NHS hospital while trying to illustrate the lack of overflowing wards and beds queuing in the corridors. Unlike the statue destroyers she did no harm but staff claimed that her actions “showed disrespect and violated their personal space”, poor dears.

It seems that the prevention of criminality is only acceptable for the Woke, Green and Left. Anyone else’s true beliefs are disregarded.
